Lea Michele has reportedly broken up with Matthew Paetz after almost two years of dating.
According to PEOPLE magazine, the two split earlier this month. Michele and Paetz met in April of 2014 when Michele shot the music video for On My Way. Paetz was her first boyfriend since the tragic death of her boyfriend, Cory Monteith.
According to a source close to the actress, Michele has turned to her closest friends for support. The source claims, “Lea is surrounded by her friends, who have rallied around her and support her. She’s doing fine, focusing on her work, her music and her album.”
Since the breakup, she has been seen out with two of her closest friends, Becca Tobin and Emma Roberts. In the past few days, they’ve all shared pictures on their Instagram accounts, where they can be seen hanging out. Michele was seen smiling as the three left Chateau Marmont on Saturday.
The split comes as a shock to many fans of the Scream Queens star. Last month, Michele gushed about her ex on the Fempire Podcast, where she said, “(…) at the end of the day this industry is really tough and the only way to really get through, is to create a solid unit and that’s really what we have been since day one; we’ve stood by each other through anything that was thrown our way and he’s such a great man that he would never really let anything like that crack our lovely little core that we’ve created.”
